School Direct

School Direct is an employment based Initial Teacher Training Programme.

School Direct places are available through St Francis School, a lead school, working with an accredited provider. St Francis School is working with Bishop Grosseteste to provide this training programme. Financial support and bursaries may be available throughout your training. The course lasts for one academic year. Successful completion of the programme will lead to the award of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Our School Direct programme also includes the option of a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE).

  2. The school Direct Programme (Salaried) is an employment-based route into teaching for high quality graduates with three or more years’ career experience. The trainee is employed as an unqualified teacher by a school..

A Statement from one of our trainees: “The School Direct Programme is a great route into teaching, particularly if you learn best through practical experiences. You can gain so much more experience than any ordinary university placement. The help and support that the school has provided is exceptional and I have learnt so much from the staff and pupils”
